An update from Tanguro Ranch: can we force a tipping point?
This provides an update on the Tanguro Ranch, where we have 3 eddy flux towers in collaboration with Paulo Brando's group at Yale University. Tanguro is in the southeastern Amazon, an area where there is about 1 degree of warming and a one-month delay in the start of the wet season associated with land cover change. One of the towers is located in a control forest, the other in an experimental area that has been subjected to fire. Both sites have experienced windthrows, and both have edge effects related to the neighboring agricultural fields. I will update on the group's results on differences in biomass, vulnerability to drought and recovery trajectories following disturbance.
